ABOUT ABOUT

Austin Playhouse is excited to announce their Spring Theatre for Youth Production of The Imaginators by Dwayne Hartford. The play tells the story of a brother and sister, Tim and Ann, who have just moved to a new town. Tim loves to play games and make up stories. However, Anne refuses to play with him, fearing that someone from their new school or, even worse, their popular neighbor Nina, will make fun of her. When Nina comes over, she takes Tim and Anne on a make-believe adventure using only boxes and whatever they can find in the garage to create their imaginary world. Eventually, by learning their own strengths, working as a team, and using the unlimited power of their imaginations, they escape the child eating monster, Mooklecratz.

"Austin Playhouse chose The Imaginators because it encourages audiences, young and old, to nurture their imagination and never lose their sense of play," says Marie Fahlgren, Austin Playhouse’s Theatre for Youth Coordinator.

The Imaginators will have free public performances on Saturday, April 15 at 2PM and Tuesday, April 18 at 12PM. Performances on April 21 and 22 have been cancelled. In addition to public performances, The Imaginators is also available for schools and camps throughout Central Texas. For more information, contact [email protected].

Because Austin Playhouse believes cost should not be a factor, all performances of our Theatre for Youth productions are free.

The Imaginators is targeted to grades 2 - 6, but is appropriate for the whole family.

The Imaginators will be produced in Austin Playhouse's theatre at ACC's Highland Mall campus. Enter Highland Mall via Highland Mall Blvd and proceed to the South Entrance. Just keep Highland Mall on your right as you drive around and you'll reach the South Entrance!
