ABOUT ABOUT

Austin Playhouse is excited to present Made In Dublin, a new one-man show from acclaimed Irish writer, director and performer Peter Sheridan, on Tuesday, February 21st at 8pm. This funny, warm and poignant play tells the story of Peter’s life from a fabulous and heart-breaking childhood in a Dublin working-class family of seven to an established career in theatre and film. While exploring his journey, this insightful work touches on the wider culture and politics of Ireland in the 1960s and 1970s, and shows an individual and a society on the cusp of profound change.

Peter has received the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and he was elected a member of Aosdana, an affiliation of Ireland’s leading artists. His writing has been praised as “vivid, affecting and lingering” by the Irish Times and “marvellously funny and loving stuff” by Time Out. Irish film producer and writer Neil Jordan has said, “his prose is as rich as his characters, ordinary and fabulous, tragic and hilarious.”

About Peter Sheridan - Directing Credits include Translations and The Crucible at Live Oak Theatre, Diary of a Hunger Strike at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, A Child’s Christmas in Wales at Abbey Theatre, and Mobile Homes at Project Arts Centre, where he was also a founding member. Film work includes The Breakfast, which won a Rockie at Banff and co-wrote and directed the feature Borstal Boy, based on the book by Brendan Behan.
